We have been experiencing a heat wave (100+ degrees) that is only outnumbered by two other years in our state's history. So far, we've had 42 days of the century mark. They have all fallen between mid-May and now. Last summer, we didn't have even one. What a difference a year makes. We won't even talk about lack of rain.
Our family of five has very different tastes in what constitutes a vacation. Some like cities and touristy stuff, the others like all things outdoors. We've come up with the perfect spot and it was only 68* there yesterday. We are spending three days doing outdoorsy stuff on Orcas Island off the northern coast of Washington state. Then we'll spend three days in Seattle doing some sightseeing.
We will be gone until the 12th. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that I'll have an amazing picture of a Killer whale or two to share. We are going on a whale watching trip and the boat captain said they've seen all three pods of whales for the last 20 days. We'll bring back some cooler weather, promise!
